Kim Harris, MEd, serves as the Executive Director of School Advancement at Instructional Empowerment. Kim is a seasoned leadership strategist and a passionate builder of leadership capacity, with over 20 years of experience in fostering authentic voices to develop leaders in the core principles of effective leadership. Her mission has been to enhance and elevate the strategies educators use to empower both their colleagues and students.
Before her tenure at Instructional Empowerment, Kim spent 14 impactful years with Cleveland City Schools, where she held various roles including classroom teacher, Curriculum Administrator, and High School Principal. Her commitment to educational equity drove her to provide enriched learning experiences to students who may not have otherwise encountered them.
Kim has excelled as a Staff Developer, Conference Speaker, Leadership Coach, District Lead, and Field Director at IE. Her expertise lies in guiding educators and school leaders to identify and implement rigorous instructional strategies tailored to the diverse needs of today’s learners. This strategic focus has resulted in notable improvements in student achievement, school climate, and overall morale. Notably, under her leadership, a school that faced persistent low achievement scores saw significant gains for the first time in six years, successfully exiting state oversight.
Kim’s work is deeply rooted in her social mission to “impact the people who impact the world.” She is passionate about helping leaders refine their personal leadership styles and strategies to drive meaningful change. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and a Master of Education in Adult Learning and Development from Cleveland State University. Her skills in strengthening internal systems enable leadership teams to remain responsive to evolving demands while executing strategic initiatives effectively.
