Kevin McDonald, MEd, serves as a Field Director at Instructional Empowerment. A culturally relevant practitioner, he enjoys helping leaders grow in their understanding of the academic and social needs of their students and staff. As Field Director, Kevin enjoys coaching and empowering IE Faculty to support school leaders as they learn about and implement strategies that help students to excel as lifelong learners.
Kevin has worked in Florida public schools for 23+ years, with nine of those years serving as an administrator in a large urban district. He has served a variety of roles from music educator, elementary classroom teacher, assistant principal, and principal. Most of his service was spent in high needs schools.
Kevin holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Florida State University and a Master of Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida. He continued his studies at the University of South Florida, completing his EdS in Turnaround Leadership with a capstone study of science inquiry and culturally relevant pedagogy as a vehicle for curriculum and instructional equity. He is currently working on his Doctorate in Educational Leadership with a focus on Turnaround Leadership Principal Competencies using a transformative leadership framework.
