Stronger Together: A Review of How Two Schools Improved Instruction After Consolidating

Many districts face the daunting possibility of navigating school consolidation. This historic case study examines the successful consolidation of two Grand Island Public Schools in Nebraska, Stolley Park and Starr Elementary. Despite initial concerns about merging two schools with varying student demographics, the implementation of the Model of Instruction for Deeper Learning helped unite the community, improve student outcomes, and led to both schools receiving national recognition.
