Transforming Student Behavior

Walnut Middle School in Grand Island, Nebraska, known as the “toughest school in town,” historically struggled with challenging student behaviors and low academic achievement. With a vision of improving outcomes for students and teachers, Walnut began implementing student-led team learning. This case study analyzes how this implementation transformed the district, leading to decreased discipline referrals, increased student engagement and confidence, and improved access to rigorous instruction for all students.
